There's this boy at my LFS.

I've had to go there a couple times this week. Get new fish, replace dead fish today, etc.

Both times... well maybe three actually... this boy's been there.

HE IS BEAUTIFUL. BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL.

He's a VT with perfect finnage.

It's whiteish see through ish and his body is maroon. His face is maroon. And he has some maroon splotches on his top and bottom fin.

He's healthy and flaring and... oh.
It hurts so bad that I cant have him.

My dad says I cant have any more tanks.

I'm wondering if I can somehow divide my ten gallon.

Sympathy? Suggestions?

I'd rather if it wasn't see through, though...

There's a female in there. Cough.

GAHHHH. He's so beautiful...

They wont let me empty the tank for 48 hours.

Too much of a hassle.. etc etc etc.

It's a ten gallon with other fish in it already obviously.

I just want to break off a section for the boyyy...

I'm just going to get the petsmart dividers.

They'd be cheaper than buying all the supplies anyway.

I've made the part of the tank that Rebel (As I have decided to call him) shall live in betta-safe. No pokey plants! Now. A few questions.

Do you think jumping the divider could potentially be the issue?

Sasha jumped out of the breeding trap.

Even when I had it positioned under the hood.

If so, what is a solution?

Also.

Could I call the LFS and ask them to hold Rebel for me?

All you have to do, is come home with him in his own tank, soon as he's home, you can't take him back, right? :hey: :hey:

The whole point is that I can't have another container or bowl or something. Teehee. Sly thinking, though.

"You can lower the water level a bit so the divider is too high for him to jump over.

Surely will.
Thanks peeps. :)

The best thing to do to prevent him from jumping over is to get some sort of plastic mesh to go over his entire section. In the craft section at walmart, or wherever you would shop for crafts where you live, you can get some plastic grid made for needlework and it is perfect, just cut it to size. Its about 40 cents a sheet. Rest it directly against the rim of the tank and the top of the divider. It is best to totally seal off rather than just lower the water level, unless you lower it a lot, because they can surprise you how far they can jump, especially if there's a pretty girl on the other side!

THAT is a good idea. :good:

Teehee. I shall do that!

Erm.

Until I can get over to the craft store, will a folder weighted down by something do? B)

Um, if you could rig something else up I'm sure it would OK unless it would get waterlogged from the condensation. I have no idea if the folder would work or not, seeing as I'm not looking at the folder or the tank. I don't think it would need to be weighted down...I have not been under the impression that they are able to push things out of the way while jumping. :)

Okie dokie.

GAHHH.
Mom&&Dad say I cant ask the LFS to hold Rebel for me until I can get him.

GAHHHHHHHH.

What if he's GONE by the time I get my divider?????

I would DIE.

I mean. I've dreamt up a name for him already and everything!
