Is there anything these fish won't eat? They ate almond leaves, romaine lettuce, any veg fruit at all, all type of food for the other fish. They eat non-stop. They are suffering from a disease called gigantism

A couple of videos below, sorry for the music. Just picked generic ones from the list.

Here is the adult gang of platies

And here are the kids in another tank trying to figure out if cucumber is edible:

Platies re big pigs!!! Love them to pieces none of the less

Love your tank, how did you come up with inspiration for the aqua scruding?

Aquascaping, oops autocorrect!

I didn't plant too much really. I went to a closing down fish shop and got the driftwood pieces and then bought lots of easy going plants(mostly anubias), the rest is just putting the pieces together where it fits :). The tree looking driftwood is 5 pieces of wood actually.

How do you prepare cucumber? Is it cooked to soften it first?

Raw cucumber, just sliced in half along the lenght and washed from outside and they eat it just like that. I avoid blanched veg like zucchini because they fall appart quite easy.

Oh! I shall try it sometime. I hate hate cucumber so we don't have it around much... but if I see those small sliced ones I will try that sometime. I could probably freeze it in chunks....

You can wash it, cut it, wrap it in cling film and in the freezer. When you take it out and defrost it, it will be softer and can stay in the tank shorter but my fish love cucumber so much that it doesn't last too long. Fresh is better though and it will last normally in the fridge for ages. They aren't crazy about zucchini, not sure why but I've always put the zucchini blanched. I'll try a fresh one actually to see if that's the reason. The other fruit they really love is melon. I always save a couple of slices when we get some and keep it in the fridge. The corys and platies love it too, unless my pleco takes over, then he kicks everyone away...so I started putting two pieces on the opposite sides of the tank. It's really easy if you have spare suction cups and cut the slice just slightly wider than the holding plastics so it has a nice fit, then stick it on to the glass, otherwise it floats and they can't eat it easily.
Mango, if you ever buy it, is another one they go crazy for.
Mine don't eat apples, pears and sweet potatoes. I've tried broccoli and spinach and they like it but it makes a big mess in the tank, same with bananas, they just melt inside.
Blanched and peeled peas is a good one too. And if you haven't done it, smashed fresh cloves of garlic is another one they like. It makes my fish a lot more active when the tank stinks of garlic :)

Hah, so platies love all the things I hate! LOL Though we do buy mango since the kids like it.

wish mine would do that :( i have different vedg in my tank for my snail and they dont even look at it, even if i let if float on top!
