In Case You Forgot....

JUST for the record :) the recomended tank size for 1 pacu is 350 gallons, and then another 350 gallons for every other pacu that you add

its like the oscar, 75 gallon is minimum with no other fish, 350 is just enough for 1 pacu alone

go to 450 or more and you can add some others with him :)

55 = him not having enough room to grow, his insides are growing without his body growing and this is a quote from another post i seen once

very sorry for this comment

*he is going to die a very slow and painful death while you fishes insides grow to big for the body, because the tank is to small and you have stunted your fishes growth*

Okay now let me get this straight. If you want your fish to live sell him to someone with a bigger tank or get a bigger tank. If you truely love your fish you will do what ever it takes for the best possible health for them. A fifty five gallon tank is not helping, it is making it hard for your fish and you. If you dont react to our answers and ignore our suggestions your fish will die. Like they said his insides will keep on growing and he will not, causeing him to DIE. Trust me if you truely, TRUELY love your fish you will listen to us. Your fish will not live even if you are taking care of him and everything. HE WILL DIE!

I am sorry but I just hate it when this happens.

Do you guys think I'm an idiot????

He is in there on a temporary basis, I have plans for getting him into a 500 eventually, probably in a few months, I have had him in there for only a year, I know what I am doing, I used to bred fish so I know what they need in the long run. He has no trouble turning at the moment, that is why I have is so sparcely decorated, I gave him more room the bigger he got. I should have the bigger tank by April, so he will be moving then, and everything will be fine.

vancouver are you saying that i am cruel *as in my comment?*

i didnt want to come off this way i just wanted him to know the truth of whats goin on

and trout fly, the way that you said it before has given me the impression that he will be in their or 10 more years

nowhere in your first statement did you say anything about upgrading, and i therefore think your bs'ing

if you are upgrading because of the information you have recieved then say so, dont lie to us, we arent stupid either

but we can only give you advice, you are the one making the decisions

why say this then?

Lots of the larger fish kept in aquaria never get the full size that they can reach in the wild. As an example, most silver arowanas stay around 30" even though they have been recorded to get up to 48". Not all fish grow to the maximum size of their species.

Also i think the flaming has to stop. It is obvious that he does need a bigger tank. Only 1-3 posts were needed to tell him that the current tank size is not suitable, not 10.

When someone gives advice, they usually dont insult the owner about how cruel he is before correcting him.

why say this then?

He could get up to 30" but will probably stay this size for the rest of his life, which will be about 10 more years or so, he is 2 at the moment.

Because we all know, 95% of the time a fish will not reach their "reported max size" or their "reported max age" while in captivity unless the fish is in a 1000gal tank or bigger where their bodies think they are in their natural environment. I thank you all for your concerns, and no I am not lying about the upgrade. The only person who replied to this post that has talked to in the past is SpAcE MoNkEy and knows my history of how my fish are handled.

Indeed, while some will grow close to wild size (like some people grow taller than others), many will not for various reaons, whether genetic or environmental or what. Giraffe cats, for example, have a wild size of 3ft, in captivity they rarely exceed 2ft. Electric catfish, 3ft wild size, 15" ish captivity size.

but are you saying the arrowana would grow that big in a 55g?

No. Pacus are different, they dont get stunted. They just keep on growing. I dont like pacus that much, they remind me of cows. Red tail catfish also dont get stunted.
