Last night we had a bit of a scare with the filter not starting up [it's a fluval 3 plus underwater filter] and whilst we managed to get it started again, we don't dare switch it off again in case it doesn't start back up again. [it was only switched off as I was doing quite a big waterchange]

I have dispatched the other half on an emergency mission to try and buy another one [I'm stuck at work] but we've got a bit of a pickle in that he may not be able to get to the lfs and he's working away tonight/tomorrow. I'm absolutely terrified it's going to go off again and my lovely new cycled tank is going to suffer.

What should I do if it kicks the bucket before staurday [when I can feasibly get to the lfs and buy a new one?] I have to work tomorrow so it's not like I can do waterchanges throughout the day. It's 126 litres with 4 perpetually pooping platys.

We'll be taking the filter back to the lfs were we bought it and complaining very stongly as soon as we get a chance but in the meantime I need to know what to do in case emergency!

It's normal for them to do this, mine do it sometimes, just pull it up and down in the water, that seems to get it going again, don't forget to clean impellor.

major blush time here.

Cleaner the impellor and now it's working fine.
