I've been keeping my betta in her temporary bowl for a couple af days now. I've just realized that she's probably really bored with nothing else in their. I can't get to a store until this weekend and I want her to have something to play with or somewhere to hide so she can be comfortable. What items that can be found around the house can I put in her bowl that are safe and effective in entertaining her.

A ping pong ball, a marble, a pen or your finger on the outside of the glass...

A mirror? I know females don't flare, but a mirror will let her look at another fish.

I put a plastic tube for hamsters into my 10 gallon tank once, lol, they loved it! but for your betta, a ping pong ball could work, ummm a smaller fish to chase? haha j/k, seriously though, bettas love things to go into, out of around, under and through, so a little makeshift cave out of rocks (made one for my pleco once, he loves it) They also love silk or real plants with big fat leaves that they can lie on :fun: hmm can't think of anything else at the moment, good luck though, let me know what you decide on :good:

Hm.. The tunnel's a good idea. Or a dried indian almond leaf or banana leaf if you have it in your area.

Oh, and Kyrielle, females do flare. ;)

nothing really to add that hasnt been said before, just wanted to back them up, ping pong balls are probally the most common,or safe wooden beads, marbles, tubes, plants, i once added a aquq plastic fish thats suppose to bob up and down in the bath etc and he loved it, probally thought it was a female, but hey it worked, he didnt flare much at it, just swam round and headbutted it.i removed it after about 30 mins.

safe wooden beads, wood that hasnt been treated with chemicals etc.
i tied them though a bit of string and the other end to a long piece of wood, i placed the wood across the tank so the beads hang in the water and dont sink, some float anyway, my betta just pushes them around and swims thought them.i suppose it could be done wioth normale plastic bead if the plastic wont release anything into the water like paint/dye.

by no means are bettas lazy - they are full of life... that being said they love being lazy on fat leaves :p
