Im sure my mail Sword tail is impotent. He's in a tank with 3 females and so far we havent even had 1 fry!!

o, maybe it might be worth gettign another male? he mite be impotent as you say, or fertile, i had this conversation with my dad (who knows about fish) and he said this too. when i start to breed mine i am goign 3 males to 5 females. hope i was some help?

Females will store sperm for 6 months or so, if they have been with other males in the shop then they should have a good chance, even though if your male is a poor one.

Firstly though what other fish do u keep as they usually produce 30 fry at a time and to get one sounds like the other have been eaten.

What size is the tank and what filtration do u have?

LOL so it dose........

I know i should read the posts better but dyslixia (or how ever u spell it) is the problem.

How long is the gonopodium on the male? I've nearly purchased beautiful fish with enlongated "breeding tools" but those are generally in some of the different types of swordtails, like my lyretails.

Is it okay to have more then one male swordtail in a tank though? I've read before that one male swordtail would kill another if they were in the same tank!?!?!?!??

They do like a lot of space swords, and i'll say that there should be no more than 1 male per squire foot of surface area
