How do you import betta into the uk? Like if i brought one on ebay that was not in this contry or brought one off aquabid?

you need to go through a transhipper who is set up legally to accept livestock into the UK, forget about buying off aquabid from buyers who dont have a transhipper as they are exporting illegally and if things go wrong you also face being prosecuted with a heafty fine in the thousands of pounds, you will hear people say that they have already done this with no problems and these are only the ones who dont get caught, you never hear of the ones who do get caught as they will never admit it, getting in any livestock that isnt obtained with a cert of health for customs is a serious matter regardless of what this livestock is.

A few members on here in the UK have purchased off aquabid and have had serious problems and even deaths of bettas sent this way, you need a seller that is professional and experienced for importing any bettas, its not like just shipping to the next state, certain factors on packaging have to be taken into consideration and some sellers dont know this until they learn from mistakes which is too late for the bettas.

search on aquabid for ones that have transhippers listed for the uk, kevin at kgbettas is usually connected to some of them but he wont be dealing with bettas for a while for personal factors.

The risk is anyones but even i wont take the risk, due to 2 main reasons, the fine and the risk of D.O.A

if you get in contact with a breeder who insists that the bettas do not need a health cert then say "No" as they havent got a clue on our import laws and some who do know wack on a massive delivery charge and also charge you for the certificate, ive come across thai breeders that wont send with a heat pack without you paying upto $15 per heat pack, it took me almost 7 months to find my supplier and the service is excellent that what ive seen in the past.

When we were looking at using Kevin for a specific betta from aquabid, he was reluctant due to the excessive costs involved. It gets quite pricey to import a single fish. We emailed him some pics of what we were looking for, and he emailed his supplier in Thailand, who added a few to Kevins order. We didn't get exactly the same fish, but was pretty close.
