Now, this is one of the reasons why I don't buy daphnia.

Not long ago, I'd decided to feed my baby fishes, in my nurturing tank, a bag of daphnia. As I poured the daphnia in, from the corner of my eye I thought I'd seen something that didn't 'look' right. At that time thought nothing of it.

Two, or so weeks later, I'd noticed again this strange thingy-majiggy, so removed it To my disgust I found out it was a flatworm, and it was on my finger! Yuck. Looking in my tank couldn't see any more so thought nothing of it.

Two or so weeks later, I found some more of those disgusting creatures. WTF! Where had they come from? Went hunting and found loads of them were breeding in my air-operated filter. Yuck!!

Make you wonder what other creepy crawlies are living in your filter media, eh?

OK, I just tried feeding live daphnia yesterday and today. I'll be sure to throw out the top media when I clean this weekend!

I dont undertsand why you want to get rid of them...yea they might be gross or weird looking, but they are a natural way of filtartion. They eat debris and other small food particles in the aquarium. think of it as fewer water changes.
