I thought maybe the filter current in their tank, no matter how gentle, was still preventing bubblenesting. I blocked it off using the coke bottle method, and look what IIII've gooooot!

you really dont need the filter. they may be better without it. mine bred twice without a filter.

I prefer to use the filter because leaving larger tanks unfiltered makes me nervous... I don't do 100% water changes on those after all
Anyway, I used old filter material to it's instantly cycled and I don't have to worry about it this way
