a couple of my mollies have died over the last couple of months with the symptoms of TB. 1st sympton whitch matches is the thinning of the fish even though the fish is eating well, 2nd sympton is the odd fish or 2 has popeye. Ive dosed the tank with an antiparasite treatment (interpet) and also after regular water changes ive dosed the tank with anti internal bacteria (interpet) treatment. still with no sucsess. my tank is a mature rio 240 been running for a long time with the adult mollies giving birth on a regular basis. this report made me realise that what my fish tank seems to have is fish TB. How would i get hold of this tretment to cure my fish? THIS IS THE REPORT THAT MATCHES MY FISHES SYMPTOMS: Other bacterial causes of pop-eye are from Mycobacteria (fish TB) and Nocardia. Fish infected with these bacteria tend to waste away and may have open ulcers on their bodies. Few studies have been performed to determine which antibiotic is best to treat fish TB. There has been some reported success with minocycline (Maracyn-Two) and kanamycin. Minocycline successfully treats Mycobacterium marinum (fish TB) in humans, so it makes sense that this antibiotic should work for the same infection in fish.

I've been having the same problems with my tank ...and have been wondering if it is TB. I'm treating with JBL Furnol which treats internal and external bacterial infections. I'm going to start there and see if things get better.

I've had 2 fish die on me in the past 2 weeks with no sign of illness. Also have 1 siamese algae eater with pop-eye and an open wound, one of my swordtails has a whitish/clear patch on her side and her left fin seems to of shrunk also I have a guppy which appears to be fin rot..but also with TB what you think is fin rot actually is from the TB.

Thing is there are so many diseases that have similar symptoms so it's hard to pin point what it is exactly. I know my tank was over-stocked and I was over-feeding a little so it could be that instead.

I'm going to finish the treatment then move all the fry out of there to another tank, feed less and keep the bottom of the tank very clean. I'm planning on changing it from gravel to sand soon. I just hope it isn't TB and all my fishes illnesses and deaths have been due to the over-crowding and over-feeding.

Good Luck!!

Maracyn should be sold at your local fish "shop" or pet store, I've used Maracyn products before and they seem to do the trick. If you can't find that brand name, find out the active ingredient and inquire at your store. I hope this helps!

cheers dude / dudet for the fast replys ill check my lf shop for maracyn products, ive not heard of this product before . thanx again. :)
