I'm Stumped

Not everything died. 2 Golden Gouramis and 1 tetra (poor guy) are still alive. And yes, the airstones are fine. I was a tad overstocked before so I have 2 long airstones along the back wall that create a nice little bubble background.

Ok, It does sound a bit odd. If your tests are coming up with no answers i am stumped too.

Sorry for your loss

Chris

My nitrates are at zero because my de-chlorinator has Nitra-ban in it. And yes, I had an Angelfish in with Neons. The Angelfish was small when I got him and I added him after the neons. Besides, neons are cheap.

Anyway, if it were a problem with ammonia or nitrates or something wouldnt it have affected my gouramis as well?

My PH is 8.2 out of the tap - I think someone asked that.

Maybe you should switch your de-chorlinator, nitrates are good. If you were overstocked then you should have traces of ammonia. Thats the only thing I can think of that would kill your fish other then disease and you haven't mention anything about symptoms. How is the fishes behavior?

You said you changed 90% of the water? To much, this is too stressful on your fish you really shouldn't do more then 50. What did you use to clean the tank, any chemicals? What did your apples snails look like when they died? Like really stretched out of their shells?

I didnt mention symptoms because they died. Alive when I went to bed, dead when I woke up. The ones that are alive act normally.

As for the water change, I removed the fish when I did it and got the temp back up to 82 before I re-added them.

The snails were eaten by the time I realized they were dead.

I suppose I'll chalk this up as an act of God.

90% water change is way too much, irregardless of wether the fish were in the tank or not when you did it ...

theres nothing wrng with 90%, so long as the temps ok and dechlorinated, theres no problem
