So my red platy is going to give birth within 24 hours. I currently have her in a breeding net but I'm not sure if my new 10 gallon tank is good enough yet. It's been cycling for 2 and a half days now.
Parameters:
29 gallon old:
Ph: 7.6
Ammonia:0.05 ppm
Nitrates:5
Nitrates:0
10 gallon new:
Ph:7.6
Ammonia:0.20 ppm
Nitrates:5
Nitrates:0

Oh yeah and the temperature of both tanks is 77*F

tank is NOT cycled unless ammonia is 0, nitRITES are 0, and you are producing nitrates (which are removed by water changes)... this has to be stable for a couple days at least.

platy's will eat fry.. so beware :)

Neither tank appears to be cycled, so the answer would be no. You listed two readings for nitrate for each tank - is one of those supposed to be nitrite?

Oh yeah sorry and why aren't either cycled?

Plus the 29 gallon actually has an ammonia of 0 ppm this was from last weeks test but I just tested again and then the ten gallon I just tested again and it's ammonia is at 0.05 ppm
My nitrates in both are around 5 and my nitrites are about 0

I know my 10 gallon isn't cycled but my 29 gallon is. Also would you guys suggest making a sponge filter( I have supplies to) or keep my aqueon pf 20 in with pantyhos over the intake. ( these filters are for the 10 gal )

You've been advised on a number of occasions by a number of different people not to place the pregnant platy in the breeder net. Whilst I appreciate it's your choice whether to take the advice or not, I would again advise that you take the stressed fish out of it, and allow her to give birth normally.

How are you cycling the 10gal? Are there fish in there, or are you using bottled ammonia? 2½ days is not long enough to cycle a filter, unless you have taken mature media from another tank, and then continued to feed those bacteria with ammonia until you introduce fish to the tank.

In your position, when showing any ammonia or nitrite in your tanks, you need to be testing water daily.

May I point out that people on this forum are not here solely for your benefit. Please bear in mind that when you posted this, it was in the early hours of the morning in the UK, so unlikely that anyone over here will be awake. People will respond to you in their own good time, if they want to. Demanding responses within a given time frame will only serve to upset other people, and make it less likely that people will want to respond to you at all.

ok ... how long has the fiter been cycled in the 29 G?
What % of media did you transfer to the 10G tank?
Did you replace the media that was taken?
Is the 5 reading above Nitrites or Nitrates?
What fish are in your 29 G tank?
What fish are in your 10G tank to keep the cycle going? or are you adding Ammonia?
What tests are you using?

6 mos
About 25%
nitrates
5 female platy 3 male platy 3 cardinal tetras bristlenose plec

I'm doing fishless cycle cuz this will be my fry tank
Aqueon master test kit

So you are using bottled ammonia?

No because my fry are coming within 2 days and it can't be too ammoniaey

So how are you keeping the bacteria alive in the 10G? They need an ammonia source. Are you adding any fish food? 12% of the bacteria or so die every 24 hours, so they need to be fed.

Ok so what do you suggest I do? Would it be ok to stick the pregnant fishy in it?

Yes! If the tank was set-up as you state, by taking 25% of the filter media from a tank that has been up and running for 6 months, then it would be fine to add the pregnant platy to the 10G. The 10G tank would be fine for the pregnant female, just be sure that there are some hiding places for her to feel comfortable, and some for the fry as well.
