at myself!!!!!!!

i had a growout tank for my baby guppies and only 1 out of the 19 was male, so i decided that i should put him in my community tank, so he doesnt impregnate his sisters. i fed them all some nice frozen bloodworms, and then when i went to check on him a few hours later, he was dead. i am so mad that i moved him!! i checked the water inthe communtiy tank and amonia was 0, nitrAtes b/w 20 and 40 (test strip) and nitrIte b/w 0 and 0.5 (test strip). he was close to full body size for a guppy, and had such beautiful colors (red, black and metallic blue). the rest of the guppys all appear to be female (i can't see a gonopodium) and aren't nearly as colorful... i am very sad :(
anyways, could that nitIte level kill him? his original tank was 0 nitrIte. he also had quite a full belly when i found him dead, could he have eaten himself to death?

how old are the fry?

if its more than a few weeks - he may well have past on his genes - so to speak

I don't think it was the nitrites. It might have just been shock and perhaps a drastic temperature change.

thanks smithrc, that made me laugh
there is one female who is quite a bit larger than the rest, nearly full grown. she looks like she could be pregnant. the fry are all different ages most are about 3/4 inch long. i have had them bout 2 weeks. maybe he will live on...
