I've kept fish since the 80's, though I've never seen this. In the tank I have 2 zebra danios, along with some ghost/grass shrimp and golden snails. What eggs are these? Should they be above water? Gosh, I don't know what to do here.

Mystery snail eggs. leave them be. They hatch and the babies drop into the water.

oh cool!

should i keep the water below them?

How big is this tank?

You don't have to do anything special for the eggs to hatch, just keep the lid closed, and the clutch out of water...but you may not want that many mystery snails in the tank...if that's the case, you can remove and dispose of the egg clutch

it's just a small 10 gallon tank...

since this is my first time with mystery snail eggs, i'll leave them be. i'm curious to see what will happen. of course i'm friends with the local fish store here, so i can give him all he wants (like i do with fancy tail guppies)

how long does it take for the eggs to hatch & why do they do they lay them above water? sorry, i'm always wondering and wanting to learn more...

takes a couple of weeks to hatch.
they lay them out of water for protection from aquatic predators.

They should hatch in a week or two....they are laid above water to keep them in a humid environment...submerged, they would rot
