Im Going To Have A 90l Betta Tank At Christmas!

or, breed betta imbellis with some wild caught plakats [closest type of splenden] and hopefully some of the aggresion should be lost. Betta imbenden :p

already done a lot and doesnt reduce aggression - thats how they got different scaled bettas coppers , dragons etc from crossing the wild splendens complex of fish with betta splendens

HoneyThorn, i dont understand where your coming from? Ive been told by alot of people that the 125l is absolutely great for those fish, just 2 fantail goldfish there not pond fish. On another coldwater fish forum i go on the rule on there is 40l per fish which is 80l then plus they have the extra space which is about another 20l because the other 25 takes up filter etc. I've had these fish a year and a half now and evr sicne i got them ive been upgradign tnaks after i uprgade to this 125l thats it its there last tank they can live there lives in it, many people have said it to me so im not quite understanding you here?
125l is fine for fancy gold fish
for 1 fancy providing it has an external filter

Yes it will have an internal which it comes with which is already built in and an external, will store 2 fancy goldfish. 40l each =80l plus extra space.

you need 30 gallons for one and another 10 for each one after so for two you need 40UK gallons

a 125 after displacement will be about 25UK gallons

not really...thats merely someone else opinion, do it...but i hope you have a decent filter...something like an eheim pro 2026 or larger. and if it fails, you know why we advised you not to do it

I'll do it with success thanks very much! i dont want to discuss this any further because i knoq whats right if it wasnt i'd be getting a bigger tank!

Have you ever seen a properly grown adult fancy goldfish? Because I have, and I can promise you they will need more than 125 L. ( Actually they can be kept in ponds in warm weather or hot climates )

Around 8 inches in length is an average size for a fancy, many get even bigger than that, and in circumference around the body they tend to get to the size of a big orange.

And they will need an external filter once fully grown as they are notorious for producing a lot of waste. An internal, even a large one won't cope.

I'm not saying it to have a go at you
. I'm telling you the basic truth. I've seen them with my own eyes, many people on here keep them and will tell you the same as Truck suggests.

A 125 will do for now if they are still quite small, but what I'm saying is they will need a much bigger tank when they outgrow the 125. Which they will in time. It would simply save you a lot of time and money to get the bigger tank as soon as possible instead of, or as well as the 125 , and having to upgrade and buy another tank all over again.

But as I say the 125 would make a great soroity tank for girls and some suitable companions if you didn't have the goldfish in it. I have endlers and pygmy cories in with my girls which works very well.

The fish are currently 3inch including tail. I realize what your saying but for now i think it will be fine, they havent grown in a while. Hoepfully not stunted growth! But they did start in a 21l tank then to a 90l then soon to a 125l, im always trying to upgrade now my parents are finally letting me upgrade the tank :) But yes i understand you, thanks. Im keeping the goldfish, the 125l id for them not for a sority tank.

Jasmine is only young and i dont think keeping on about her goldfish is very helpful - its already been mentioned quite a few times in this thread already - maybe now just stick to the comments on the betta tank she's getting as a lovely present for christmas

As i said Jasmine 20litres for each boy and 50 litres for 6-8 girls will be fine

you know you can pm me anytime for a chat please dont get upset by the other posts about the goldfish ((((((hugs))))

Have you started to plan this new tank at christmas hon? You did a really good one a little while ago which loved! :D

amy, i am actually having it as a better tank this time im not saying i will then not lol! But im setting up the goldfish tank first so this betta tank will be setup and all done by march i think. But yes i need your help on planning this out! I want it to be really good etc lol! So amy, pip, and ideas let me know btw you 2 are great friends to have! :D
