When I woke up this morning I had more fry in my main tank. I have no clue which fish had babies as the 2 that I know for sure are pregnant are still pregnant. Also these fry are like a black color, when the last 2 batches for swordtails were born they were orange. I managed to save 7 of these fry. Oh I am so confused LOL.
I will try to get a picture of them soon.

There are a couple things to note. When fish give birth, they look immediately look slimmer, but they balloon up pretty quickly again. Your fish should still be pregnant as they are livebearers, but they may not appear any different. That is a possibility.

Secondly, even if you are positive about the parents' colors, the fry will not necessarily look like the parents right off the bat. I have a black Molly that came from a completely yellow mother. Another fry she had was split down the middle between yellow and black and ended up being a dirty yellow when the colors ended up being final. If you have a tank with lots of livebearers, you may never be able to identify the parents. Colors will eventually sort themselves out, but it will take time.

I am thinking that it was my redwag that had the babies. I posted about her acting funny and hiding the other day. Well she is now out swimming with the rest of the fish and she has been all day. I have mostly livebearers in my tank.

A question about guppies. My friend has a few that hes wanting to give to me. His tank is getting over run. How do I tell which are males and females?

Thank You

The males will have the same sex organ that Platies, Swords, and Mollies do. The males are generally much more colorful too. The females look kind of plain.

males will usualy have huge tail fins. and have colors on there bodys. females will have a colord small tail and that it.
