ive had my 60litre tank for 6 years almost.. its obviously changed over the years.
ive got a pair of six year old clown loaches, who must be worth a fortune, they're huge!
i also have a loner mountain minnow and a loner neon tetra
and two black neon tetras. and two glass catfish.
and then, i have the family. a mother swordtail, with her (roughly) three month old 15 little swordtails.
im going to sell all of the fry when they are mature and a little bigger. but keep this beautiful male swordtail, and a couple of females. and take the rest to the shop and get some credit for myself.

the set up of the tank is your average, i have an artificial pot, with various holes etc, and the clown loach have over taken this and only come out for eating. and i have three stones, and a jug.
for plants, i just have parrots feather floating, and the fry love this.

SO! its just a matter of time when (and its horrible to say it) the neon and minnow will go.. they are OLD. and lonely. so i need you guys to give me tips on fish, plants, and set up etc, baring in mind i want to keep the fish (apart from the swordtail fry) but i am willing to transform the whole set up.

so yeh, if you have an aspect of your tank you just LOVE. tell me about it. and give me ideas. give me ideas of great fish etc. id just love to hear them :)

reply guys :good:

:D

Well, you'v told us about your fish, however i havent found much about your tank itself, what substrate do you have ect.?

i personally would advise to have sand instead of gravel and then live plants and a peice of bogwood in the middle. also i would advice a background, black or dark green that shows of the fishes colours.

fish, well i have 2 platies, 3 honey gouramis (one a red robin gourami) and 5 neon tetras and then 2 cory's (pgymy)
fish i would have in a 60ltr...well i supose id have some dwarf ciclids and/or some bolivian rams. im not sure if they go with loaches but they are beuties! erm, or id get some gouramis, or even a comunity tank with a betta in?

what type of fish would you prefur and have access to, ie what your local fish store sell.

good luck :good:

cockatoo cichilid wil be ok in that tank but you could not get a pair of bolivian rams or german rams or any rams infact.you could have just 1 ram but not a pair. a good idea would be apistogramma cacatuoides( cockatoo cichilid ). you could have a pair of these and these can be really coulorful aswell. a pair of honey gourami would look nice in there.
how big are the clown loaches?

i have 5 gbrc in another tank. a seperate one on their own. and i'll look into cockatoo cichlids thanks.
and the clowns are about 15 cm long :)

i would move them into a bigger tank as they are to big for a tank that size and also they need to be in groups of atleast 6 so i would consider getting them some mates and moving them.

Rehome the clown loaches. They need to be in a shoal, and deserve to have a bigger tank.
If you aren't going to upgrade to a much larger tank, then find some smaller loaches that will be more suitable for it. I'm not familiar with all the loach types, but I know kuhlis stay fairly small (they also need to be kept in groups).

i agree completely with having to move them, but ive had these two loaches for 6 years, since they were just months old, so i'll try and save up for a bigger tank.

Yeah, those loaches still might have some growing to do. Fortunately they aren't the quickest growing fish in the world.
