With my cichlids i am prety sure i have a good mix as seen in my sig and despite the fact that there are lots and lots of rocks an i love the look of the tank the fish just sit around and do nothing, the only time i see them swin is for food and one of my female morrii spat her fy today. Has anybody else experienced this?

Or just rearrange the rocks. (which is always good to do anyway every month or so)

What temperature is your water at? Sometimes if the water is a bit on the cold side the fish slow down considerably and act as you described.

Also, try putting the lights on a timer so that they get about 8 to 10 hours of "sunlight" and dark the rest of the time. It may sound funny, but they might be cranky from not getting enough sleep! :p

I rearanged the rock yesterday before starting this thread and they get approx 10 hours of light a day. Water is st 77 or 26.
p.s i reagange rocks about every 2weeks.

I'd also recommed raising the temp. I had mine set on 78 for several months and when I got a new heater, I set it on 77 and it ended up raising the temp to 80. Since then I've noticed my labs are a lot more active. The male practically spends every waking moment doing his breeding shimmy. :D

my africans are so active, its unbelieveable lol.they never hide away.maybe its the mix of fish in your tank?????its really hard to answer.

Hi Ginge

My tank has loads of rocks and I never change them around. I got six morriis in my tank and every single fish is active. My water temp is around 81.

Sabby :)
