I came home yesterday to a dead female beta. Of course, I freaked out. My little beauty, Kurenai, is dead! I did a total and complete water change, boiling everything so kill any germs. Taking a water sample to my Lfs, I find that I've been a bad owner. After he put in the chemicals, the water looked emerald green and sapphire blue. The amonia and ph where off the scales.
Some good news DID come of this. A customer was listening to what I had to say, and offered to sell me his 29 G tank with lighted hood for 30$. I'm in the process of remodling my room to make room for it, and I'm rather going to divide my 10G tank for my males, or use it for breeding.
Oh, but what really pissed me off was this. While I was in the process of filling the tank with hot water, my step dad wakes up. He tells me there was no point in doing a complete water change, and that I shouldn't get so worked up over a fish.
