could some one please help

i have an ill platy which is staying near the top of the waters surface, it is off its food. all my tank parameters are spot on
except my ph which is little high at 9 also my hardness is 8 could this be whats wrong all my other swordtails and platys are doing fine.

also my tap water is around 9 so should i get ph buffers? any recommendations would be very helpful

thankyou

Thats quite a high PH mate! I cant help you on that but if your platy is gasping at the surface she certainly aint feeling well. Its a bad sign when they gasp at the surface, i have lost a few from that. You would be better suited to keeping cichlids who like a high PH. I know what you need to buffer UP ph but not how to take it down. Of course, she could just be feeling off with your water tests being normal, ammonia, nitrite ect. If your other fish are ok, i wouldnt imagine the water is a problem. Have you been doing anything different or did you add the platy recently? GRJ

How long have you had the platy.
Check the gills over to see if there pale with excess mucas on them, or red and inflamed.
Is there enough 02 in the tank.
