Tank size: 110L / 29 Gal

ammonia: 0ppm
nitrite: 0ppm
nitrate: 20ppm

(tested with API master kit)

tank temp: 26

Tank mates: 10 black tetra, 2 neon tetra, 1 lampeye, 3 albino cory, 3 three striped cory, 1 other guppy, 1 ram

I recently got given a guppy - I'm not sure what his behaviour was like before arrival in my tank, but now he just seems to sit on the bottom and occasionally shuffle about. He's got 4 dark spots - 3 on one side, and one of the other. Photo below. Is this is likely to be a disease / infection of just stress from moving to a new tank?

Thanks.

What's your pH and water hardness, if you know them? How did you acclimatise and what were the pH and water hardness it came from?

At the moment, it does look constipated, what colour is the poo? Check for signs of worms.

My pH is 7.8 - which I guess could be a problem. Not sure on the hardness.

No idea of any of the parameters of the tank they came from - he turned up in a bag from a friend of a friend who split up with their partner and was left with the tank and no idea what to do with it.

I havne't seen any poo from it - it hasn't eaten much since arriving Tuesday evening.

It was floating in the bag for around 20 minutes - then gradually added water from my tank over the next 30 minutes, then netted out of the bag and into the tanks. Lights stayed off for a day.

That's fine and the hardness is also probably fine then (this is pretty much optimum for guppies).

In future, it's probably a good idea to drip acclimatise, especially when you don't know what parameters the fish are coming from because quick changes in pH and hardness can kill the fish. 30 minutes is definitely quick, I usually acclimatise over 3-6 hours.

Most likely constipation or internal parasites, I think. Try not feeding for a few days, then feed only boiled and de-shelled peas for a few days. If you notice any signs of worms, change tactic to treat for worms immediately.
