Hi All,

I've had this catfish for 18months now (as old as the tank) and for as long as I remember it had this frilly stuff on it's mouth.

My only cause for concern now is that it seems to be getting worse and it's now looking like a cyst and contains blood.

I do water changes every 2-4weeks and change the carbon filter every 4. I'm not sure on water level but I haven't had a fish die in over 6months. Last time I had them checked (4weeks ago) the level's were spot on.

Any idea's to what illness it is and how to treat it?

looks like it hurts! hopefully someone will come along shortly and give u some advice for the poor guy! good luck!

I hope so :).

From what I've read I'm almost sure it's a form of "cotton mouth" but would like a second opinion before putting in the treatment.

It might me a bacterial infection however they usualy develop rapidly with swelling and redness, but you say he has had it ages.
It doesn't seem to fit any of the common pleco diseases, none that i have come accross, but there are ppl on this forum with a lot more knowledge than me.
