I've had my Betta, Sherbert, for 2 years or so now. We moved house about 2 months ago, and since then he's never been the same and has just got worse now.
At first it was a lack of interest in what was going on around him. I put this down to us removing the shrimps and cories from his tank (he had been chasing the cories) and he was maybe bored. Also the fact that where his tank was he couldn't see us all the time. So we moved his tank into the sitting room. No change.
He has now been badly bloated for about 2 weeks or so. I have tried him on cooked deshelled peas twice. Think he may have eaten a little, but I have two snails in the tank so they probably finished up what he left.
He swims occasionally but can't seem to keep his balance, he gets caught up in the flow if you know what I mean. It's as if the filter current is too strong for him (it's not as was fine before and not a new filter). He spends most of his time barely breathing at the bottom of the tank. No interest at all. Normally he comes to the front of the tank when you're there and he flares.
I have some carpy photos, please ignore the algae at the bottom, we haven't been cleaning this off deliberately to avoid stressing him out further. He has of course had his normal weekly water changes.
Anyone got any idea what this is and what to do, or is it kinder to euthanise as he's been like this for weeks now, and not right for months.
His colour is all carp as well
Poor chap
