i've been away from home for the past few days and have only just got back, my water change day is usually on sunday so i wasnt here to do it :( so i came home and turned my fish lights on so i could inspect my fish and see how they were doing as i had kinda missed them, then i seen my betta and he looked terrible :( like most of his body has turned grey in colour his long flowing gorgeous fins now look clamped, ragged and have lost a great deal of color and by the looks of it he is finding it a little harder to swim as well (there was also a small white ball patch thing on his tail fin which i noticed when examining him) what can i do to help him :( ? i know somewhere to start would be to do a water change asap! and maybe keep them up for the rest of the week or so until he looks better ? :)

any help greatly appreciated, i want to nurse him back to health, my heart sank when i seen him!
THANKS :)

Is he feeling better after the water change? Sounds like he may have a touch of finrot too. I'd try using Melafix to help him heal.

he seems to be better :) i did a 50% water change! and fed some blood worm and he seems to have regained some colour, although his tail fin still seems a bit clamped, and his body still seems a bit grey but he seems to be on the mend :) i'll keep up the water changes :D

If you use Pimafix and Melafix it does all bateria and fungal infections, so it cures most things. Keep the water changes up and make sure he eats.
Hopefully he'll cheer up

When i have a sick betta i always turn off the lights and turn up the temp a little bit. then i get some sea salt and add some to the water.

I've used melafix before but i heard that you have to dilute it because it clogs up the labyrinth organ so i give 1/5th the amount. then i do frequent water changes.
if i have a fish with ick when i get it from the pet store i make sure the water is about 85f and there's sea salt in the water. then i change the water 50% every day for about 3 days and the ick is gone.
