If you had a spare 10 gal with all the bells and whistles waht would you put in it???

i recently had a death in my fish family and now have a empty 10 gal and want to start a new plan for it but i have no idea what i want to do. I'm hoping someone will have an idea that i like

Unfortunately, not alot. A ten gal is a little small for most things I like to keep. That said though, I would probably house a couple of shelldwellers, plant it out and put a pair/trio of dwarf new world cichlids in it, use it as a terrarium for my carnivorous plants or turn it into a saltwater nano.

Personally I'd whomp some importers until they got me a couple of parasitic catfish species and divide the tank. Or you could do a standard micro-community, something like a chaca chaca, breeding tank...

I'd try 3 dwarf puffers.
Or maybe 3 shrimps and 5 endlers.
Or 5 female bettas.
Or be safe and make it a quarantine tank, if you don't have one already.

I would do:

a shellies tank with neolamprologus multifasciatus

or a harem of peacock gobies and a group of heterandria formosa

or a trio of sparkling gouramis and a group of corydoras habrosus

or a school of ember tetras (if I had the right water) and pygmy corys

or a coldwater tank with desert gobies

or a trio of honey gouramis

or try my hand at killifish

or a group of endlers

or some microrasboras (if I had right water)

or cherry barbs

or frogs

or a dedicated shrimp tank

not to mention all the fry I could stick in there

in fact, with a dozen 10 gallon tanks sprinkled about the house, I could be kept happy for a long time

i was considering perhaps a few platies, or something that reproduces so i could have fry to feed my big fish in my 55 gal. i have a few JD's and a RTBS in the 55 they eat fry right? ( some web pages i visited said that) i wouldn't buy feeders from fish store due to disease but i cout use a 10 gal to breed my own feeders right. i also have a extra 10 gal tank with out a good filter just an airstone to put newborn fry in right????

Salt water nano or Endler's Livebearer/Guppy tank. whichever floats your boat best.

I just think the fish stock for a 10 gallon owns that of freshwaters.

Without a shadow of a doubt the tank would be:

Any Boraras species I could get ahold of.

Small group of Ember Tetras (the smallest of all the Tetras, beautiful transparent orange color)

Cherry Shrimp, Amano Shrimp, and other, more rare, algae eating shrimp. Might even throw a ghost or two in there.

Snails snails snails! Nerites and Malaysian Trumpets.

Maybe an Otto.

Of course, this setup would be heavily planted.

So you have a nice semi-nano community tank going. Key thing is to keep all fish sizes an inch and under.

I'm converting a 10 gal soon into a cory tank. Cories are so cute.

I completely forgot about Killifish. My next fish project will probably be with those.
