If you could start all over...

If you could start fishkeeping all over what would you do differently.

I would get 1 big tank and not two small ones.
I would do a fishless cycle and be more patient. B)
I would of signed up to this forum immediately
I would of used sand and not gravel
Choose my fish carfully
I would not get livebearers (personal opinion)
Not get a chinese algae eater
Used mag float everyday so no spotted algae appears
Get plants
Have a spair tank

What would you do if your tank sprung a leak that you couldn't repair?
What happens if you eed to quarentine a fish for some reason?
What do you do if you're fish suddenly decide they want to start a family?

A spare tank is always a handy thing to have around.

i see, makes sense, but do you keep the spare tank always running. because i always see them on a slelf right below the main tank and is usually half filled.

If i could do all over again...i would have jumped on a deal for a 200 gal tank. I was new at the hobby and didnt think i could handle that big of a tank ( stupid me). It was dirt cheap and i would have sailfin catfish...a big predator

I would have gotten a bigger tank and made a big community tank instead of a smaller one.

I would have came to this site and read up on everything before I even get a tank.
I never would have got that Columbian shark! (boy he caused me problems...)
I would prolly have guppies instead of swordtails, I wouldn't have neon tetras.. id have cardinals.
Id prolly would have kept a 15 gal tank from my mom's school, not baught the 20gal kit and waited til the lfs had a renovations sale on a 40 gal for 40 dollars.
Thats what I would have done different.

I would...

...get a bigger tank.
...use sand not gravel.
...get more watts per gallon so my plants would grow better. (I could do this now by building a new canopy but I'm immensely lazy!)

I would of got the gouramis i saw today in my local fish shop.
A real Dark Red with a tint of blue at the top

I would still have my puffer tank
I would still have got my new 56g tank
I would not have bought so many plecs only to have them die

I think all in all the only thing i would do different would be to place my tanks in better positions in my living room (can't move them now )

In my 75 gallon I would have went real plants instead of plastic

oh yeah...I would've aquascaped my tank BEFORE I got fish instead of putting fish into a tank with just gravel and two plastic plants and saying "we can get wood and real plants later, it'll be fine"
