Have had my neon tetras for 2 weeks now
have had the rest for one week now.
This is my first time keeping tropical fish, and am so glad i havent found any dead fish yet.
Does it happen quickly, if any were to die? from shock/stress for example.
My water stats have come up fine every time since I have had the fish.

I just cant believe that all have survivied so far, touch wood, except for one amano shrimp and he has disappeared completely.

Means you are doing everything right.
You would know if something was wrong being pale, clamped fins, darting about, resting on the bottom or on plants, looking bloated,, ragged fins, darkening in colour, rapid gill movement, laboured breathing at the top of the tank.

oh fantastic, i am so pleased.
The first thing i do every morning is inspect my tank and account for everyone, just to make sure i havent lost any, particularly the shrimp.

Get to know your fish this is how you learn, I spend hours with mine and I know if ones even in a grumpy mood lol.

my fave are the shrimp and my bn and i think they are fab.
i just sit and watch them, i am sitting next to them at the moment on my laptop.

Good, the more time you spend with them the better.
I love watching my fish.

I love watching my fish, too. From the sounds of things, littlelegs, you're getting the hang of it. Keep it up! :D

well done, i have only just started with my tank in my room and they all seem ok (fingers crossed) and we have a really big tank downstairs and when you try and watch tv the fish are always more interesting lol

Good to hear littlelegs! Actually people have been pretty suprised but i've heard of those little things living for 8+ years in good conditions! (Neon Tetras that is)

As for the shrimp, he may be hiding away somewhere moulting- they have to do that from time to time as their shells don't grow. So if you see a dead shell in the tank- don't jump to conclusions, it may just be his castoffs.

We have 6 algae shrimp, and after a couple of weeks they all disapeered! One re-appeared a week or so later, and he was then the only one we could find, we searched the filter and ornaments, and decided they must have escaped up the air tube. Then when we had to treat for whitespot we had to remove the shrimp, and so we tried fishing out our one remaining shrimp, and he ran into one of the ornaments, I picked it up and shook it quite vigourously and out came 4 shrimp!

The shrimp come out more often now, mostly at night, but sometimes you don't see them at all, even if you think there's no where to hide they find somewhere! So I wouldn't worry about your shrimp disapeering, I bet you he's in there somewhere, they just like to hide.
