If I start using RO water do I have to add anything to the water?

You have to add minerals back to the water by either adding reclaim chemistry minerals (such as KENT R/O right and KENT pH stable) or by mixing the R/O water with a percentage of tap water. Adding raw R/O water to your tank is dangerous for the fish as it can cause osmotic shock.

And even if the shock doesn't get them, the lack of nutrients in r/o water eventually will.
