I set up my tank about 4 months ago its a 30 gallon with 35 lbs of LR. I have been seeing these little transparent tubes about 1/16 of an inch across and about 1/4 an inch long that down seem to do anything but some are on the base of my kenya tree coral which has been doing rather well till about 2 days ago when i first noticed the tube things on them anyone have an idea what they are? ill try to get a picture up tomorrow their a little small so i dunno if i can get one

there is nothing coming out of the top opening and they are poping up on the rocks every once and a while

Tube worms dont necessarily have to have a fan coming out of them. THere are plenty of species without them ;)

Indeed. My tank was once dominated by them :good: They spread extremely rapidly, and make a nice snack for a Wrasse or Puffer :hey:

my tree coral is back to normal and opened almost fully :) i tryed pulling them off and got most of them but i always find a couple more. can these tube worms hurt anything in the tank? also i know when you first start a tank you get alot of algae at first how long does it take on avarage to go down. I have this dark maroon colored algae covering my rocks and substrate which i try to sphion off about once a week. i also have the same algae in a dark green color and some brown hair algae is there any way to stop it from growing so fast?
