I'm planning on switching my substrate to black sand sometime in the future. I'd like to add some rock's to it to make my fish and myself happier with my tank :p

I was wondering if I could just go find some nice rocks from the garden and wash them well or if I should go out and buy some to add to the tank?
Also, I was wondering if anybody had any tips for how I could go about this process. (Should I buy a tank safe glue and glue the rocks together or should I just leave the rocks free standing in the tank?) Stuff like that.

Also, suggestions and other ideas on how to decorate my tank would be nice (It's the tank in my signature :))

I have a beautiful piece of obsidian in my tank. Because it is a piece of volcanic glass even though it contains Iron it doesn't leach because it is glass. I would also suggest a few pieces of bogwood for that natural look. That is what I am doing.

Some rocks that you find in the woods may be bad for your fish and can mess with your PH. Since you can't use any cleaning solutions, people say that you should boil the rock. This is extremely dangeorous since the rocks can explode under a high temperature. If you want to be safe, you should go and buy rock from the fish store.

You can try to clean the rocks tough, many people have done it without problems, but it's best to be safe! :)

best getting them from your local fish shop as some rocks are bad and mess the ph up. again i would use some drift wood and some plants here is mine i went for a natural look.
