Hi, am looking for ideas and inspiration... :D

Currently have a Rio 240L which we set up in Oct to replace our 1st tank, a Rio 125L. Always intended to sell the 125 but couldn't bring ourselves to do it and then realised at the weekend that if we moved the furniture around just a little (ok quite a lot!) we could fit that tank back into the living room as well! So we have! :good:

Now just need inspiration/ideas to stock the 125L when it's finished cycling. In the 240L currently have:

9 x platy (2m, 7f)
8 x harlequin
8 x lemon tetra
4 x panda cory
1 x baby angelfish

Some fish we like are:

pearl gouramies
other cories
cherry barb
betta - male or females, don't mind

but i'm sure loads out there haven't even thought of so open to any and all ideas

ps addictive this fish lark ain't it :fun:

Not sure about which fish to add ( I like khuli (sp) loaches) but you are sooo lucky to have 2 nice tanks to admire in your living room  and please post some pics so we can all have a noisy!! I'm sure some people will give you some good advice soon! Best of luck! :good:

I may pm you to get the name of that lfs as it sounded awful. Is that OK? Went to Maidenhead Aquatics in Fair Oak the other day - liked that one, so hope that's not it.

Forgot to say, will definitely be adding 2 or probably 3 more pandas this week to the 240L. They seem fine in a group of 4 but would like them to be as happy as poss!

Sorry, a shameful bump  I'm just excited and want to start planning :hyper:

But would love to hear your thoughts of what would be good in the two tanks (125L and 240L) bearing in mind the fish I already have - all ideas very much appreciated & very welcome, jen

Don't add cherry barbs with bettas, I had 2 cherrys and 1 betta in a 10gallon tank (with other fish like a BN plec, Cory cats and lemon tetras) and the barbs destroyed my babbies fins:( trust me no barbs of any time mix well with bettas IME anyways... I'd say (if you want the betta) get 1 male Delta or Crown tail, 2 Opaline Gouramis, 6 cory cats (peppered :D I like pepper :D), and mabye a BN plec ohh a shoal of like 5 lemon tetras would look nice :p

I've just bought some boesmani rainbow fish.. They spend a fair amount of time in the middle of the tank which i like, and they seem to get more colourful the longer you have them.. Nice active fish. They get one well with my panda corys, cardinal tetras and pentazona barbs..

I've always thought about setting up an 8 foot tank just for a group of shoaling fish say 300 tetras, Rummynoses :p Would be a bit of a waste though

Have you thought about putting in any dwarf cichlids into the 125L? They are lovely little fish :)

Thank you both :good:

Just had a look at boesmani rainbow fish - lovely looking fish! Hadn't even heard of dwarf cichlids  but have been looking them up on here & on a fish profiles site and bolivian rams really caught my eye too. From what I've read, both should fit in well with existing fish (except the angel) if I want to rearrange - have I got that right?

Any more ideas? I'd love to hear them!

Thanks again, jen
