African cichlids prefer ph around 7.5,temp-25.5 and the water hard and more acidic than anyother fish.

PH of 7 to 8.5 is acceptable, and 8 is ideal for Malawis. A ph of 7.5-9 is acceptable and above 8 ideal for Tanganyikans. A GH of 1-10 is good for Malawis, a GH of above 10 is best for Tanganyikans. A High KH of 8+ is always desirable for stable water conditions.
