I am betting there is some difference of opinion here but wanted your input. About to set up a community tropical aquarium that will be fully planted. I am looking to see what the latest view is on optimum tempurature. Years ago, I was told to keep my temp as high as possible to avoid ich, but obviously certain plants and fish don't really appreciate that.

Any thoughts is appreciated. Thanks!

Usually, a temp fo 75 to 78F is perfect for any community aquaria. Hotter isn't bad, but it wouldn't be good for your plants because as the temp of the water increases, it's ability to hold CO2 decrease4s, obv not what you want for the plants, especially is you pay for a CO2 system to inject CO2 into the water.

24 degrees Celsius is ok. If you have Discus then 28C but most other fish are fine at 24. Smaller species of fish like neon tetras actually live longer in cooler water. It also depends on where you live. I live down under and it gets hot here in summer. So I let my tanks drop to the low 20s or high teens over winter and in summer they go up to about 26 or 28 by themselves. Sorry not sure what those temps are in Farenheight.
