May be a silly question, but is it beneficial to have SOME nitrates in your tank?

I have just tested mine and as best as I can make out, my nitrAte level is between 0 - 5 ppm at most. I do have a lot of plants in the tank so I suppose that may be why the level is so low?

Amonia / NitrIte are both at zero.

Is this good or too good?

I think its fairly good, I know some people with planted tank have to add nitrates to the water for their plants to grow properly.

Good, I do tend to worry about things lately!

My plants have been shooting up, so they're probably just sucking all the Nitrates up.

0 to 40 is a good nitrate reading some people can keep nitrates that low.
