Id Needed

Hi,

Last week I paid a visit to my lfs (world of water) in search of a pleco. They didn't have much in other than King tiger plec's and a type they were calling "fake zebra plec's" which didn't look anything like the real zebra ones. Anyway I bought one of these fake zebra plec's as it was £5 cheaper than the king tigers. The problem is I cannot find anything on the net which relates to fake zebra plecs or even if they exist. I have included a few pics that are not the best quality so apologies but if you could id it for me that would be fantastic.

My guess would be a king tiger or a queen arabesque or could be neither I dunno lol

Whatever kind of Pleco it is it sure is purdy! Sorry that was no help at all.

I would go with a Queen Arabesque Pleco

how long after adding it to the tank were the pics taken? queens generally are blacker with yellow/white pin stripes, it could be a very stressed L260 but im not sure to be honest

It has been in there just over a week now.

the head shape looks like L260, it would be settled in after a week but the pattern is makeing me unsure

I will try and get some better pics. Sorry I didn't answer your question fully, it was added last wednesday and the pics were taken today.

i will be interested to see what other people have to suggest as id's. have you compared it to the pics of queens on planet catfish?

the patter looks similar to that of the L333

firstly thought i mite have been a bad marked L66, definetley not a L333 i would say, but looks like a possible L260 so i would go with the L260 i think lol

by the photo she looks a bit battered up is it just me

doubt that it is is 260, stripes are too thick if anything probably a L66 or one of these new fandangled "lower xingu" lol

id go with L066 from the latest pics though (or one of the other very very similar hypans that are near impossible to id correctly)

LOL my first instinct may have been rite then tht be a first lol!!!!


BTW strangeworld fake zebra plecs are usaually refered as Chocolate Zebra Pleco L270 and that definetly aint 1 of them lol

I think Im gonna put it down to being a king tiger plec. I think it is a little bit battered, I need to introduce some more hiding places in my tank. I have one piece of wood in the middle of the tank and my 2 angelicus catfish are very territorial with it. Although saying that the plec is how I got it. You said "she" how can you tell lol.
