I picked up some Gobys last week from my LFS who had them labelled as "freshwater rock goby"
He told me that they definitely weren't brackish, but I'm not so sure....

Please can anyone confirm what type of goby these are ?

Thanks

Tried doing a bit of research but no luck I'm afraid. Looks like a marine goby to me in all honesty.

Perhaps CFC might be able to help. He knows about gobies.

EDIT / Found an image archive here. Couldn't see yours but perhaps you could take a look.

:hyper: quite an index , quite a few gobies

sorry dxg I can't help you .

His fins look clamped , does he splay them out at all ?

His fins look VERY clamped and that is a bad sign usually indicating bad water quality or wrong water quality. (ie- brackish, saltwater, etc.) If possible, I would try adding some aquarium salt to the water.

Stenogobius hawaiiensis

couldn't find alot on this fish! but i did find this..Link

hope that helps abit!

DevilsAdvocate - I think you may have found it. The info on the link says it's fw and brackish. They are obviously not happy though and I'm converting my hospital tank to see how they get on.
Sounds like a slow process acclimatising them though....

LadyMinion - I couldn't see it on the link you posted but spent nearly an hour looking at the pics. Some very nice gobys out there.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Dave
