Hello everyone! I'll tell you my whole story on how I ended up here!

About a month or two ago, I decided that maybe fish keeping would be right for me. I've taken care of fish (incorrectly) before, as with many other pets. The only other pet I have currently is a Rose Hair Tarantula. I'd highly recommend them if you want a low maintenance pet. Anyway, I first went out and got a ten gallon tank. After that, I researched a few weeks on things like fishes, filters, cycling, and more. Yesterday was the first day that I actually started the tank. So far, this is how it looks:

I am still far from getting any fish, but I know with the help of this forum, things will go a lot easier! I look forward to having everyone help me.

I agree that you need to fill the tank to the top, however, wait until you buy your first fish because you'll want to float the bagged fish and that takes space. I'd suggest that you start with a few inexpensive community fish such as guppies, mollies, swordtails, etc. See if your tank is habitable before you move on to more costly fish. You'll also want a bottomfeeder or two (catfish, redtailed sharks) and an algae eater of some sort (Chinese or plecostomus). Flake food won't cloud the water. Get the best filter you can afford. Your local fish dealer will be able to advise you. Welcome to the hobby!

Why would you want a tarantula??? They are my NIGHTMARE!!

:hi: I look forward to seeing hoe the tank progresses. Good luck :good:
