i have a 60 litre tank but the lighting that i am using is just 2 ordinary lamps either side, they light the tank up just fine, no dark patches or shaddows about so would this lighting be good enough for plants to grow in, i would prefer a yes or no answer as i dont want to waste money on plants then have them die
thanks

Can you tell us what type of bulbs and what wattage they are?

no. plants need the proper lights from the lfs to grow

no they dont, Any bulbs will do, AS long as the color is 5000k to 10000k
This is true, but if the bulbs are pearl bulbs, then they are more than likely to be the standard fitting bulb that you get in your home. Therefore, considering that practicaly all, if not all bulbs that people buy are not at that colour rating in K, then these bulbs will not do.

So an educated guess will be NO!

If you have bought high powered bulbs... YES!

IMO, you cant beat the real thing tho.

ok thanks for the info, its my birthday soon so i will ask for a hood and fluoresent tube from my mum and dad
