Hey all.
Saw this guy swimming loan on his own in a tank full of silver sharks the other day,
Shop owner didn't really know much info on him, Said he was a smaller cichlid that doesn't grow to big,
So thought i take the chance and grab him for now
can anyone id him for me, so i can research some more info on him
seems very happy in my tank with no foes. or friends though

With those colors and that shape I would say it is an African cichlid. That is my uneducated guess.

Okay... since I saw the posting in the Old World that sent you back this way, I thought I needed to redeem myself.

Now I think female electric blue ram. See this picture

Can I do that? Reference another forum? Yikes sorry if that is against the rules.

It looks like an African Cichlid of some sort. Not a Ram, the face and fins are nothing like rams.

I know what it is and have just purchased a group of them myself for a breeding project. First saw them a couple of years ago and just had to have some... they seem to be on the market at the minute with quite a few suppliers too.

They are Pseudocrenilabrus Nicholsi. Fairly aggressive little blighters, but stunning to look at. I have seen them in with Mbuna and they more than stick up for themselves. They're another mouthbrooder and I have a holding female at just over 1 1/2" long... so they start young  The colours on the dominant male are beautiful!

Pseudocrenilabrus Nicholsi! thats the kiddy! :D

Nice one thanx mate! Just been reading up on them, looks like i maybe able to move him over to my Malawi mbuna tank then, as going for the smaller more peaceful Malawi
just need to find him a lady friend now, as he was all alone when i found him

thanx for the id and everyone help
cheers
Ben

Thats what i thought, kinda why i snapped him up being the only one, and if he as gonna be to tough for my lot, sure someone else would give him a good home
some nice info on him here

:D

Thinking i might stick him in with my malawi though, rather than the community lot. think he can look after himself,. although he has settled in nicely already and no signs of major aggression
