Hi,
Ive just noticed that some of my neons have small white specks on their fins etc. Im guessing that it is Ick. I do have a small quarantine tank, but it is not set up at the moment, could be going in a day or so (after purchase of a filter for it...).

The main tank is actually very sparsely populated, the 5 neons only have a catfish for company, since the death of both my Gouramis a couple of weeks ago. Would it be ok to treat this tank rather than use the hospital tank, ot is it best to err on the side of caution and set up the QT?

Lastly, I have a product called Myxazin, which I think is supposed to be effective for Ick, anyone used it for Ick with any success??? Should I go about raising the temperature? Also my book says to treat either before the cyst forms, or after it has burst?? Firslty, how do I know if the cyst has formed (surely thats the small white speck??), and how do I know if it has burst? Thanks.

This is the second load of fish Ive bought from a particular big shop in Wembley north london, no names mentioned, which have got ill, one of them died after 5 hours! Im nopt going there EVER again.

Cheers

Robertoi, there are some fantastic threads about ich and it's treatment - maybe a pinned topic or two. Try the search button on the top right of your page. Best of luck - if they were mine I would treat the whole tank cuz that's where the problem is.

I agree with the prior post.

If you only have the fish that you mentioned, then treat the tank they're in right now. Pinned articles tell you about temperature, meds, and salt (not to be used with cories), etc.

SIde note, rid-ich is very good for treating ich.
