just a couple minutes ago I was down stairs feeding my betta when I noticed little white spots all over it! I had just enough ich gard for dose. I really hope it will clear up soon!

Is the tank filtered? If not, be sure to change the water DAILY with "aged" water and dose every time....also, what's the temperature?

Eek, sorry about that, mate.

I know from personal experience that ich is one downright NASTY parasite. So, I feel your pain entirely. Good luck, stay strong, and make sure to do water changes daily, before you medicate, no matter how much of a pain it is. It really does help. If the ich really won't clear, salt would not be a bad option either.

Are you using the good medication as I found the stuff that makes your fingers blue is the best. Some of the other stuff is rubbish.

What are you treating the betta with and what is the temp in the tank? How many gals is the tank and what is its inhabitants? Does it have heating and filtration?

The tank is 10 gallons, Only the betta is in it, the temp is about 75-76, it is filtered and heated, and I used Jungle Ick Gaurd in it... Oh, and it's these blue crystal like things that you dump in the tank, then they desolve and make the water blue. Since last night alot of the spots have gone away but there is still some left. And unfortunatly I'm out of ich gaurd. I do have some uniodized sea salt. Maybe I could use a bit of that and that may help? If I do would any of you know how much I should use?

Yes, while that stuff is best, you really shouldnt test it by making sure it makes your fingers blue, that stuff contains formeldahyde, and is not good to be absorbed into you in any way, as it is a carcinogen. Just look for the active ingredients formeldahyde, and methelene green, and you are good to go.

just a warning, it is extremely easy to stain your carpet, clothes, skin, and aquarium sealant with this stuff. I have had great success with the ICH-X brand.

:D I didnt mean you test it on your fingers! I am just naturally messy thats why I work in a school with 4 year olds because it is what I am good at being messy! Yes thank you, it also stains work surfaces but if you put a plant over the stain hubby doesnt notice! tee hee!

If possible, slowly increase the temp to 82 degeese. It will speed up the ich life cycle and get them to the stage where the meds are effective alot more quickly. Be sure to not raise it more than 2* F or 1* C per day.
