Request Help
I have delt with and beat velvet, ick, and fin rot before but I've never seen it all at once. And this is the first time for a planted tank so I'm not sure how the chemicals will affect the plants. Help!
Tank size: 40 gal
pH: 6.5
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate:
kH: 1.5
gH: 7
tank temp: 78-82
Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior):
I noted that my silver molly had a pinkish spot on his side and what looks like a white spot on his tail. I decided last night to remove him to a small tank for medication. This morning as I caught him and started a water change, I noted what appears to be ick, salt sized spots, on the tail and dorsal fin. He's still moving around and swimming but he seems a bit sluggish. The Dalmation Molly has a fluffy white growth on his lip, I'm thinking velvet? I also noted that several of the tetras have whiteness on their fins as well.
Volume and Frequency of water changes:
Normally 5%-10% changes 2-3 times per week. I've been gone for about 2 weeks though and a friend was feeding/caring for the tank. I did find that the cherry hedge I bought was rotten, the bottom were soggy and smelly. Removed all of it.
Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:
none.
Tank inhabitants:
6 blue tetras
6 redline tetras
2 Mollies
5 albino Cories
Lots of snails (that I actually like having)
Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):
None in the past month. The last addition were the blue tetras but they showed no signs of disease and have been in the tank for just over a month.
Exposure to chemicals:
None that I know of
