what is the maximum lifespan of ich??

my angelfish has had white spots for at least 3 weeks now..

i have been treating for 2 weeks and while the spots have fallen off some of the fish they are still there on my angelfish. now and then he rubs against the plants but no other symptoms at all??

i dont want to keep on giving medicine as the dosage only says 5 days and i've already gone over that and i cant put salt in because i have catfish..i've had the temp at 80 degrees

my poor fish have lived through cycling for 4 weeks with just this one bout of ich and no other bad symptoms..and i haven't lost any.. it just seems strange that the angelfish would still have it?? i dont want to wake up one day and he's dead cos i didnt do enough

what can i do??

from my experience, could be a while. i dont know a specific time span but if the meds didnt work, he may be beyond help. if i were you, i'd do the following.

1. Quarantine the infected fish.

2. Move rest of community into another tank while you disinfect and medicate their tank.

3. leave for a week, move community back, minus infected. treat him separatly.
