help! i just found little white spots on my black molly. i quarantined him in a separate tank and put ich meds in the water... what more can i do?? i really don't want to lose him.

no, i didn't add salt. how much should i add? he's in a 2.5 gallon tank.

There is a pinned topic about mollies and salt. You should really read it. They need marine salt in their water. They are brackish fish. Mine kept ich and such until I started keeping their water right. I can't say definately about yours, but that is what was making mine weak and sick. They can do fresh water, but they stay a lot sicker when kept in fresh water. Adding salt could help it get better faster and stay healthier.
What meds are you adding?

ok, i'll def add salt. i've had mollies since january, without salt, so i figured it wasn't harming them because i haven't had any illness at all until now. i'm not sure what the meds are, actually. i know it's for ich, but i just borrowed some from a friend last night when i saw the spots. i'll check for the brand and stuff in a bit, she's not around right now. do you think i can save him??

ok, i just went out and bought some meds of my own plus aquarium salt. i added the salt according to directions on the box. the medicine i got is called coppersafe, and is made by Mardel.

oh, and i'm also wondering if i should have any pebbles of any sort in the quarantine tank, since the bacteria would just settle in them. right now the bottom of the tank is bare. will this make any difference in how the bacteria behaves?

the spots are disappearing! does this mean my fish is gonna be ok? please answer, i really need back-up here! this is the first illness i've had to deal with, so i'm not sure how to handle it.
