I have a 5 gallon tank that has 2 platys and 4 mollies in it. Platys do not have ich and have never had it.
But the mollies seem to get a few white spots (like grains of salt) also one of them was getting a white discoloration on its side. As long as I keep treating this with the ich medicine it seems to go away.
Someone told me to take the carbon out of the filter and turn the tank up to 84 slowly and treat with the medicine, as the ich will come off of the fish and is easily treated while in the water. I am on the second day with my tank turned up to 84 and on the second day of the medicine, looks like the fish are getting a little better. How long do I treat this and how long do I keep my tank at 84 degrees? Do I eventually turn the heat down? Also just a note: I have never seen the fish try and scrape themselves on anything. Maybe this isn't ich, it's something else? HELP!!!

Well no way should you have mollies in there as they get big, plus platys, as they are active fish and need room to move, all that tank is good for is a betta, once you get them well i would rehome them.
