Fish Herder
Hi
I bought some new fish a few weeks ago - platies, swordtails and guppies - and quarantined them in my 50 litre. I had to leave my golden gourami in with them as he was fighting terribly with my pearl gourami and they would have killed each other. after a week, all seemed OK, and I moved my juvenile krib in there, as my adult krib had just had fry and kept attacking. All was still OK. Then I noticed white spot on some of the platies. One platy, who i am sure was pregnant, died, followed by a pregnant swordtail. Also, the guppies looked as if they had finrot so i moved them to my tiny 14litre q tank, where one died a day later, looking very bent. Don't think it was fish TB though - he wasn't bent prior to death. The other guppy is still alive but spends a lot of time sitting on the bottom of the tank. This q tank was treated with white spot meds because of the white spot in the other tank - maybe I should now treat with anti internal bacteria?
Anyway, the larger tank has now had 2 doses of white spot meds. The temp is 82-83, and the spots have fallen off the platies. the swords seem unscathed by it. but my krib is absolutely peppered with spots, she seems to be getting more and more. She is not flicking or rubbing though, or gasping. She is behaving as usual and eating as usual. Then there is my golden gourami - not happy to be in a 50 litre, but can't be helped - but i think his dorsal fin and tail are clamped a little. No signs of white spot to him though, and again no rubbing of flicking. He does seem to spend a lot of time sitting on the gravel though, which is not like him. No signs of heavy breathing though....
Should I worry? I am trying to do all i can but have no other q tanks to separate the fish further.
Any further ideas, or do I just need to wait it out?
Oh, lastly - tank had already had fish living in it prior to the new fish, so the filter was cycled.

Whichever, I will monitor him very carefully - he can always go into the 14 litre for separate treatment if need be, though I would prefer not too - way too small for him to be comfy
