Ich, velvet, something else?

Hi,

My new plec has "something", but I'm not sure what. Here are 2 BIG photos of him:

They're too big to put in this thread but should be big enough for opinions.

Bearing in mind he's about 2 or 2 1/2 inches long, what do you think those white spots are? They look way too small to be ich, and they don't shine like velvet.

I don't want to just dose him with halfdose of anti-whitespot unless I'm sure that's what he's got. He's in a tank on his own, so nothing else to check.

Too hard to tell from those pictures... I zoomed in, but not able to really see anything.
