I was just wondering how long it would take for the ich spots to disappear once the affected fish has been treated?

If they aren't away following the number of days stated,do you need to keep treating the fish / tank?

You need to keep treating for some time after the spots are gone. The spots are a parasite which will eventually drop off and swim free in the water, looking for another host. It's only during this stage of their life cycle that they're possible to kill so you need to keep dosing for a good while after the spots have gone.

Recommended stated duration of usage (Waterlife Protozin whitespot and fungus treatment) 4days? Is there a risk of overdosing so to speak?

You don't want to overdose - most ich meds tend to be quite powerful. I would, however, recommend that you continue dosing for several days after the ich is gone. Many people who don't know just stop dosing when the spots have gone, only for it to return. Just because the spots have gone doesn't mean the parasites aren't there any more.

Thanks :good:

My 48x12x15 is on "day 14" since I started using full dose Protozin (on days 1;2;3;6) for Ich and raised the salt level over two days to 0.5g/l (on the low side because of Weather Loach and the surviving Synodontis congica and Microsynodontis polli). About an hour ago I turned off the heater, to allow the water temp to gradually lower back to the normal 22C from 27C, I plan to do a 50% water change tomorrow and then another 25-50% water change on Monday morning just before our short break.
