ich or something else?

hi,
I am newby...i have ?'s about ich or some other disease...is this the right forum
I have what looks like salt on the tail fins of 2 clown loaches...i had the same trouble with 2 glass fish but they didn't respond to quick cure...i thought the rest of the fish were ok...my platies responded well but 1 week later thje loaches are showing signs? i don't want to lose them of course!!!

Hi and welcome.
Yes it was the wrong section, but don't worry I moved it for you.

It sounds like you do indeed have a touch of ich, Clown loach are very prone to it.
Ich can only be killed in the free swimming stage, so increase the temperature in the tank a little then dose the tank with ich medication taking care not to overdose as Clown Loach are rather sensitive to meds. Read the instructions carefully.
You may have to repeat the dose a week later.
Once the ich has gone put the temperature back to normal.

Diseases are most commonly caused by stress and/or poor water conditions, so monitor your fish and water carefully to avoid a reoccurence.
