Woke to a very sick looking tank on Sunday morning fish looked like they had been rolled in salt the white spots were so many, this is after a perfectly healthy tank it seemed on Saturday.

Traeted for white spot but 1 the plattys are still as bad I have lost two penguins and a Bala, plus the other two penguins tails have completely gone!!!

They are swimming fine but look horrendous.

Im a coldwater keeper and my tropical tank is the first time Ive keep warm water. All the parameters are good I have added stress coat and the anti white spot treatment, done a 50% water change with heavy gravel vac.

Anything else I can do, is the rotting tail a symptom of the ich? if it is indeed ich?

The other fish show no signs of fin rot and bar the plattys the white spots seem to be disappearing.

it is a also a good idea to turn the temp up in the tank this speeds up the ichs life cycle,

ich is only treatable when the spores burst and become free floating, ,this is what turning up the temp does. You could also try keeping the lights off to cut down on any stress.

I doubt the fin rot is to do with the ich but maybe to do with the over all stress, I would sort the ich first then sort the tail rot, you dont want to treat everything at once.

Also I forgot to mention if you have a carbon filter in there take it out while treating.

Finrot is quite commom with itch you can get bacterial infections on top.
